Beloved,

But for the grace of God, we would all be in more devastating situations than the victims of Katrina. Why are we spared day in and day out? For the praise of the riches of his grace and kindness to us in Christ.

We will have a special mercy offering this week for Katrina. Our donations we go directly to a PCA church near Baton Rouge where hundreds are being helped. This will be considered a “free will” offering above and beyond your normal tithes. The session also decided to tithe from our church savings a gift of $10,000 for Katrina relief through the PCA church I just mentioned. We will give you opportunites to learn about other ways you may be able to help. Pray that as God spreads refugees all over, this will sovereignly accomplish the salvation of his people.

The Weavers are moving this weekend. Please consider lending a hand to Bob and Angela for a few hours. Call them at home, 847-0544, or Bob at work at 582-7655.

The Bible studies start next week, ladies on Wednesday morning and anyone interested on Tuesday evenings (7 p.m.) at the church office.

I’m offering another leadership training class, a study of the doctrine of the PCA and it’s government, on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the church office. We begin next Thursday, Sept. 15.

Thanks to all who have parked behind the gym at the JRDS. This week you’ll be closer than ever to worship, as we move into the gym. Ladies, remember that your high heels should be no larger than the size of a quarter.

Pray for our growth numerically and in spiritual depth.
Mike
