Transitions

11 Jun News & Events | Comments Off

Beloved,
If there is a word describing life at Redeemer right now, it has to be “transition”. There are so many I will probably miss one as I relate then to you!

First, we send Dave and Chip Baggett to plant a church in Philadelphia. This Sunday Dave will preach his last sermon for us. Don’t forget the yard sale at the Bon Ton house Saturday to help support his move.

As we say goodbye to the Baggetts we say welcome to Marc and Amy Corbett, new to town from Texas Tech to do Lynchburg Reformed University Fellowship. Meet their new daughter Caroline when you see them next! Marc will preach for us on June 22.

Then we anticipate Tre and April Smith’s arrival July 1. They have purchased a home off of Link Rd. Please pray for the sale of their home in Danville, and for their transition from their church in Danville. Speaking of home’s selling, don’t forget Deb and John Bennetch’s home here to sell.

On Sunday June 22 we bid godspeed to Zach and Chelsea Smith as they leave for new ministry in Colunmbus, Ga. Thank the Lord for their loving labors among RYG (Redeemer Youth Group), and for providing in this transition. Josh and Annie Earls have served with our youth for months, and have been asked by the elders to continue the wonderful work begun by Zach and Chelsea. Josh officially takes the mantle from Zach on June 22.

In mid-July we will welcome Tim Sharpe as our new worship director. He has graduated from RTS Orlando and is enjoying a brief respite.

Speaking of transitions, what about the Forest church plant?
Our Forest building committee has started to work with an architect, Jeff Parkhill of Hughes Associates from Roanoke. He will be creating a master plan which could be used on multiple sites in the area.
Meanwhile, our search for land in the Boonsboro area continues.

The elders will be prayerfully considering when to transition to a Forest worship service. Please pray with us for wisdom to know when the opportunity is right, considering our financial, leadership and numerical needs.

We are in transition, but God is not. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever. He is faithful to His church. We rest in Him.
Blessings,
Mike
