Discipleship at Redeemer

Sep 2nd, 2008

Excerpt:

Loving God and others, for His glory, by the gospel’s transforming power

How Will I be Discipled?

A.  Why discipleship?

*The elders of the church are responsible to shepherd God’s people by making them disciples; they disciple believers by teaching them all that Jesus has given them, and by joining them to one another in the body to experience koinonia, burden bearing, prayer, encouragement, and unified focus in service. The emphasis in the NT on discipling seems to fall on one anothering.

*Discipleship doesn’t just happen; it needs to be intentionally structured for relationship to happen.
