Location: Calcutta, India

Organization:  Christ Mission Ashram

Christ Mission Ashram (CMA) is located in the bustling city of Calcutta, population 15 million.  CMA was founded by a young Bengali man, Sukrit Roy, and his Korean wife, Sang-Yee Roy Byun.  Sukrit went to Korea for theological studies in ACTS and Chong Shin and attended the International Prayer Assembly in Seoul, Korea in 1984.  While there, he was challenged by Dr. Billy Bright of CCC on World Evangelization.  Sukrit and a Korean friend formed a prayer group for India and in March 1986, Sukrit and Sang-Yee returned to India to form Christ Mission Ashram.  Shorty following, CMA was registered with the government.

In 1988 the India Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary was started with an initial class of seven students.  Now more than 200 students have graduated with B.Th and/or M.Div degrees and have planted 107 churches in India and Nepal with a membership of 10,000 believers.   Other graduates are serving in other traditional churches in India and Nepal.  The goal of CMA is to equip and train young men and women in biblical and theological education, bathe them in intensive prayer, personal renewal and revival, discipleship, and practical missionary training to reach 4,635 unreached people groups and plant churches in 600,000 villages in India.
